Knut Anderson

June 28, 1904 — February 26, 2006

Knut Anderson was born June 28, 1904 and died February 26, 2006. Knut died peacefully in his sleep after living a long, productive, and loving life. Knut settled in Chicago after arriving in the United States from Sweden in the mid 1920's. His hard work and strong spirit helped forge the way for him and his family in his new country. Knut is well known in the Chicago Swedish community for his tireless support of the Independent Order of Good Templars (IOGT). His friends and family remember him frying salt herring and dancing waltzes, polkas and the schottish each year on Mid-summer's Day at the IOGT park. He was a hard worker, but he also enjoyed leading the festivities with his expert skill at dancing the traditional Swedish dances in his historical attire from Ostergotland, Sweden. Mountain Home residents would regularly see him at community and school functions offering his support. He was a firm believer in education as he fostered the local schools by his presence and his active support of school funding elections. His group of Mountain Home friends was enormous. He and his wife, Gerda were well known for hosting regular social gatherings at their home. He was also an active participant at the Senior Center in Mountain Home. Most importantly, Knut will be remembered by his great-nieces and great-grand nieces as the man who kept the family heritage alive. Knut had a strong devotion to the United States and was very proud of his citizenship; yet he maintained his family heritage and passed it on to his family. He was the last person of the family who came from Sweden to America but with his passing, that tie will not be broken. Because of Knut, we know who we are and where we came from. We love you, Uncle Knut! Survivors: Great-nieces, Jeanette and Linda and great-grand nieces, Amy and Suzanne. In Sweden he is survived by his brother, Rune; sister, Inez; nephew, Lars and great- nephews, Fredrick, Thomas and Richard Preceded in Death by: His brother, Ragnar; wife, Gerda, niece, Anna Louvisa, and first wife, Signe Funeral: Private Burial: Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum Memorials: Salvation Army
