Larry Nickels

Larry Charles Nickels of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away March 17, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 81. He was born May 29, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Charles Joseph and Mary Bouphglon Morrette Nickels. In 1961, Larry graduated from Allen Park High School in Michigan. He went on to play football at Hillsdale College, in Hillsdale, Michigan where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Education. He married Blanche Marie Strickler on August 14, 1971 at Angelica Lutheran Church in Allen Park, Michigan. Larry worked as a school teacher and high school football coach for 30 years in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School System. After the family spent time vacationing in the Twin Lakes Area, they decided to retire here. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching movies. He especially loved watching his grandkids play high school and college sports.

Larry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Blanche Nickels of Mountain Home, AR; son, Scott Nickels of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Lauren, Zachary, and Maya Nickels; brother, Terrill Nickels of Grosse Isle, MI; and daughter-in-law, Katherine Nickels of Rochester, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life for Larry will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, with Dr. Sam Bailey officiating.
