Lavern Harris died Monday, June 15, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 91. He was born Sunday, September 30, 1917 in Grant Co., Minnesota, the son of Reynolds and Viola Mae Saffel Harris. He married Alice C. Froemming on June 3, 1944 at Rice Lake, Wisconsin and worked as a Retail Lumber Manager for U.B.C. Central. Lavern Harris was a U.S. Navy Seabees veteran of WWII. Lavern lived in Mountain Home since 1991 moving from Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He was a 26 year board member of the First Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and he enjoyed golfing. Survivors: Lavern Harris is survived by his wife, Alice Harris and one son, Richard (Nina) Harris of Spooner, WI, one daughter, Mary Harris of Tulsa, OK, one brother, Calvin Harris of Elgin, IA, five grandchildren, Richard Lee (Beth) Marcon, Nolan Lavern Harris, Rita M. (Scott) Fredrick, Suzanne L. Marcon (Jim) Fuller, and Lura E. (Sheldon) Johnson. Preceded in Death by: Lavern Harris is survived by his wife, Alice Harris and one son, Richard (Nina) Harris of Spooner, WI, one daughter, Mary Harris of Tulsa, OK, one brother, Calvin Harris of Elgin, IA, five grandchildren, Richard Lee (Beth) Marcon, Nolan Lavern Harris, Rita M. (Scott) Fredrick, Suzanne L. Marcon (Jim) Fuller, and Lura E. (Sheldon) Johnson. Funeral: Funeral services for Lavern O. Harris of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Gadbaw officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wisconsin.
