A Funeral Service for Lem Lorece Morris of Mountain Home and previously Gamaliel, Arkansas, will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 11, 2014, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jerry Morris and Reverend Larry Hopkins officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Lem passed away August 7, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 89. He was born May 2, 1925, in Leadwood, Missouri, the son of Lem and Oma Wells Morris. He married Leona Fisher on December 4, 1942, at Leadwood, Missouri and worked as a Railroad Brakeman for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Lem was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and lived in Gamaliel since 1971, moving from Fairview Heights, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He never met a stranger and loved to make new friends and talk about the Lord. He was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and loved to sing acapella in the choir and solos at church. He enjoyed spending time with family and playing games with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lem is survived by his son, Jerry Len (Miok) Morris of Wilmer, AL; daughter, Linda Sue Dunn of Gamaliel, AR; sister, Alice Pierce of Farmington,, MO; four grandchildren, David and Jennifer Dunn and Matthew and Steven Morris; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Elva Clark, Marie Gibson, Virgil Morris, Johnny Morris, Alberta Huber, Virginia Morris, Stanley Morris and Alvin Morris and son-in-law, Lee Dunn.
Burial will be in the Maynard Bend Cemetery, Gamaliel, Arkansas. Military Honors will be provided by the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
