Leo Moran

Leo Joseph Moran was born December 12, 1917. He was the son of James and Bridget Malone Moran of Clayton Township, Crawford County, Wisconsin. He was the sole surviving member of the family of ten children, two brothers and seven sisters. He attended elementary and high school in Boscobel, Wisconsin. He married Grace Wolford of Prarie Du Chien, Wisconsin in February, 1940. They had three children before divorcing in 1944. She preceded him in death in March, 1999, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Madaline Fenno in Davenport, September 15, 1969. Mr. Moran worked for Oscar Mayer and Company in Madison, Wisconsin for thirty-three years. He retired In January, 1980. He began with the company in Madison in 1947 as a truck route salesman in the Prarie Du Chien area, including eastern Iowa, through the early 1950's; was promoted to market sales in The Rockford area for 10 years, and to Large Account sales in Davenport where he worked on the Eagle Foods account for the company. He and his wife Madaline, a native of the Quad Cities, lived in Moline until his retirement in 1980. Prior to his career with Oscar Mayer, he worked for Badger Ordinance, Baraboo, Wisconsin, during World War II, and near Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, in hydraulics, constructing wartime bombs. Leo was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many vacations and weekends looking for good fishing holes on the upper Mississippi. For many years he owned a summer retreat on Battle Island near Desoto, Wisconson. Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas was also a favorite fishing lake for him. Leo Joseph Moran passed away from natural causes on Friday, March 18, 2005 at Pine Lane Healthcare in Hospice. Mr. Moran had been a resident of Pine Lane for the past two years and a resident of the Mountain Home area for more than 22 years, living with his wife, near Oakland, Arkansas on Bull Shoals Lake. Survivors: Madaline, his wife of thirty-five years, who lives near her daughter in Silvis; son, Nicholas and wife Karen, of Sutton, Massachusetts; daugher, Faye Lynn of Boscobel; step-daughter, Lorraine Hansen of East Moline; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Preceded in Death by: First wife, Grace Wolford Moran; and daughter, Nanette Visitation: One hour prior to the service Funeral: Noon, Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline Burial: Greenview memorial Gardens, East Moline
