LeRoy Buffon

A Celebration of Life for LeRoy John Buffon of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Reverend Jimmie Snow officiating. Military Honors and luncheon will follow the service at the Alley-White American Legion Post #52.

LeRoy passed away May 23, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 77. He was born January 20, 1939, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Elmo and Vera Larson Buffon. LeRoy grew up on a farm in Villisca, Iowa and graduated from Villisca High School in 1957. After receiving his associates degree from Clarinda Junior College, he joined the Air Force in 1960 and served for four years. He married Barbara Mosley on October 26, 1963, in Kansas City, Kansas, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. LeRoy lived in Mountain Home for 13 years, moving from Rockwall, Texas upon retirement from a 34 year career with AT&T. He was a volunteer for Hospice of the Ozarks, and was very active in the Alley-White American Legion Post #52, having previously served as commander. Among his numerous hobbies, he loved writing poetry and was a member of the Mountain Home Poets Association. He played several instruments and loved singing and playing guitar on Friday nights at the VanMatre Senior Center. LeRoy thoroughly enjoyed retirement, especially morning cups of coffee with friends, days spent working outdoors and evenings relaxing in his recliner with his loyal canine companion, Jazmin.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Barbara Buffon of Mountain Home, AR; four children, Michael Buffon and wife Ceann of Lee's Summit, MO, Melissa Trahan and husband Adam of Phoenix, AZ, Melinda Monroe and partner Michael Ford of Glendale, AZ and Daniel Buffon of Mountain Home, AR and six grandchildren, Matthew, Kathryn, Jacob, Eli, Noah and Richard.


He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Alley-White American Legion Post #52, Mountain Home Food Basket or First United Methodist Church Music Dept.
