It is with great sadness for us, but extreme happiness for her, that we announce the passing of Linda "Kaye" Davis. Kaye was born September 26, 1947, in Harrison, Arkansas, to the late Ewell and Betty Sharp. She passed away on August 9th, 2024, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Kaye was a graduate of the Class of 1965 at Pyatt and received her degree in History in 1969 at Arkansas Tech. After graduating and raising her three children, she taught for more than 28 years in the Yellville and Flippin School Districts, positively affecting the lives of hundreds of students. She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, and devout Christian, who was unwavering in her faith and was a founding member of the Highway 5 South Church of Christ in Mountain Home. She loved her husband and kids; however, her grandkids were the twinkle in her eye, and she was thrilled anytime they were around.
She was a provider, hard worker, home keeper, sounding board, woman of wise counsel, and a great role model. She loved history, books, and puzzles, but mostly she loved the outdoors. You could usually find her in the yard in the summer mowing on her zero turn, zipping up and down the yard multiple times in a week. In the evenings, her favorite place to be was sitting on her cedar swing overlooking the pond and waiting for the ducks to fly in at dusk.
She grew up on a farm and loved all animals. As a child, she would name all of the cows on the farm and then sit in the loft and cry when they were taken to the sale barn. She never turned down any animal that Joe rescued from various places. Numerous cats and dogs were blessed to be spoiled by Kaye and Joe both.
She battled dementia by trying to keep her mind busy and active, but eventually it took her from us. Her husband of 53 years kept the promise that he made in front of God and her parents to take care of her “in sickness and health, until death do you part” by visiting her daily at the Villa and eventually the hospital. She lit up every time he entered the room, even in her final days. We will miss her tremendously, but we know she is once again whole and is reunited with her parents who she missed so dearly.
She leaves behind a brother, Donnie (Skippy) Sharp of Yellville; her husband of 53 years, Joe Davis of Jonesboro; children, Jodi (Curtis) Christenberry of Jonesboro, Dallas (Sheri) Davis of Kansas City, and Jill (Derek) Johnson of Kansas City; grandchildren Riley, Brennen, Davis, Miley, Kylee, Jaxson, and Dakota; and other loving family.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Ewell and Betty Sharp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), https://www.alzdiscovery.org/donate, for Alzheimer's research or any Alzheimer's charity of your choice.
A Memorial Service for Linda will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Keith Sharp officiating.
