A Service of Celebration for Louis Fashing ,96, of Bull Shoals, AR will be held 11AM Saturday July 18th, 2015, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeview, AR followed by fellowship and a luncheon.
Louis died peacefully July 10, 2015 surrounded by love. Louie was an exceptional man who lived life honorably, authentically and lovingly. He was a quiet man who listened with his ears, his eyes and his heart. Often he'd sit in 'his chair' with his hand around the bowl of his pipe, nodding in agreement or adding his own comments to conversations of visiting family or his friends, loved as family. He was educated by listening to the world that surrounded him and was comforted by his faith. Louie married the love of his life, Betty 77 years ago. Together they established their home, served their country, raised their family and followed their dreams. Betty died June 22, 2015 with Louie at her side. Only then did he surrender to his own failing health, comforted by the promise that they would be together. "True love stories never have endings". Richard Bach.
Though born in Lorain, Ohio, Louie loved this area and considered it his native home. His happiest hours were spent fishing and one of his greatest joys an 8+ lb. German Brown Trout. During WWII Lou served on LST 457 with the Navy's 7th Fleet as gunner, landing craft pilot and boatswain's mate.
Lou was an example of a life well lived to his daughters, Nancy (Earl) Veits, Connie (Jack) Binder, six grandchildren, Cathleen, Laurie, Kimberly, Wendy, Karen and John Louis, and eight great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
