Louise Brissie Beckwith died peacefully in her home on March 6, 2013 in Mountain Home. Mrs. Beckwith was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late H. Ross and Sara J. Phillips. She was a graduate of West Chester State Teachers College, now West Chester University. She began her career in 1944, teaching high school mathematics, and was later employed by Bell Research Labs in New York City, where she designed the relays for torpedo heads used by American military forces during World War II. She married Eugene Field Brissie in New York City in 1945. Following his death in 1961, she taught in the South Plainfield, New Jersey Public Schools. She married Warren I. Beckwith in 1968. Survivors include her husband, Warren I. Beckwith, of Mountain Home; two daughters: Carol Brissie Martin and husband, Dirk, of Lakeview and Pamela Brissie Joswick and husband, Frank, of Bayfield, Colorado; and one son, Eugene F. Brissie, Jr. and wife, Lisa, of New Canaan, Connecticut. She is also survived by four grandchildren as well as two stepsons, Warren I. Beckwith, Jr. and Eric Beckwith, four step-grandchildren, and two step-great-granddaughters. Her parents and sister, Laura M. Phillips, preceded her in death. Services will be held at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home on Monday, Marth 18th at 11 a.m. Friends may wish to send flowers or make a memorial contribution in Mrs. Beckwith's name to Serenity, P.O. Box 1111, Mountain Home, AR 72654. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Pennsylvania. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
