Louise S. Ward died Saturday January 10th, 2009 at Care Manor Nursing Home. She was 96 years old. Louise was born on March 11, 1912 at Douglas, Arizona to James and Margaret Stevens. She married Beuran S. Ward on June 23, 1939 at Long Beach, California. Louise was a member of the San Carlos Apache Indian Tribe and worked for 20 years at the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Arizona as an Administrative Assistant. Louise was the Queen Mum of the Lakeview Redbud Red Hats and the Queen Mother of the Glen Cove Babes. She loved to garden, read and was an avid rock hound belonging to the Gem and Mineral Society of Globe, Arizona. Louise had lived in Lakeview since 2004 moving here with her children from San Diego, California. Survivors: Louis is survived by two daughters Betsy Durham(Joe) of Lakeview, Arkansas and Ginny Smith of Globe, Arizona, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and one sister. Funeral: A Funeral Service for Louise S. Ward will be held at San Carlos Cemetery on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona on Friday January 16th with Father Gino officiating.
