Lyle Isbell was born December 8, 1911 in Oklahoma Territory. He was the son of Bert and Hazel Thompson Isbell. He was a devout Christian who committed himself to works rather than words, and was lay leader of World Bible Studies through the Central Avenue Church of Christ in Kenya and Nigeria Africa. He was also a Sunday school teacher at his home church in Wichita, Kansas. He married Agnes Helen Kelley in Gutherie, Oklahoma after serving with the United States Army during World War II. Lyle and Agnes Isbell raised three children from that union. After the death of Agnes he married Betty Fuston who was his partner with whom he traveled the world to every continent except Antarctica. Lyle Isbell passed away Nobember 5, 2005, at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 27 days. Survivors: His wife of twenty-two years, Betty Isbell of Wichita, Kansas; two sons, Gary (Eve) Isbell of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Craig (Mary) Isbell of Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Karen Ruth of Wichita, Kansas, ten grandchildren and four great- grandchildren; one step-son, Kenny (Espey) Fuston and family of Wichita, Kansas; and one sister, Wilda (Jerry) Schryver of Conrad, Iowa Preceded in Death by: His parents and first wife Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until service time Funeral: Graveside services for Lyle Isbell will be noon, Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the Old Mission Cemetery Chapel in Wichita, Kansas with Brother Willis Hood officiating.
