Military graveside services for Margaret Mary Cato, 92 of Norfork, AR, will be 11:45 AM Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.
Margaret Cato died Monday, November 30, 2009 in Norfork. She was born Saturday, June 23, 1917 in Rockaway, New Jersey, daughter of Llewellyn and Edith Donahue Decker. She married Furman Eugene Cato in 1946 at her parent's home in Rockaway. She worked as a Registered Nurse 30 years for Dr. Faust. Margaret was a U.S. Army Nurse of WWII and was the 2nd woman in the U.S. to get the Soldier's Metal of Valor. Margaret lived in Norfork for just a few days moving from Colorado. She was a charter member of the Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Tampa, FL, past president of the United Methodist Women and sang in the choir. She enjoyed golf and loved to play Bridge.
Margaret is survived by her 2 daughters, Margaret (Jim) Ellis of Norfork, AR and Mary Emily (Eugene) Doyle of Windsor, CO, 2 grandsons, Mark (Teresa) Humphries III of Wesley Chapel, FL and Judson Eugene (Hilary) Doyle of Fort Collins, CO, 1 granddaughter, Jessica Mary (Alan) Baird of Kona, HI, 1 sister, Helen Tucker of Redbank, NJ and 1 brother, Llewellyn Decker, Jr. of Escondido, CA., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband, Furman.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.
