A Funeral Service for Martha Eunice Bennett of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, with Dr. Sam Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at Twin Lakes Baptist Church.
Martha Eunice Bennett was born December 17, 1923, to Ruby and James Finn Gibson in her grandparents’ home in Hickory Valley, Tennessee, and went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2015. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee during the Great Depression and attended Messick High School. After graduation, she earned a scholarship to the Memphis School of Art. She married Macon Bennett, the love of her life who she had met at a New Year’s Eve party. They married on October 2, 1942 while he was in the Navy during WWII. In 1964 they moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi. In 1984 they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas where together they created and directed the Senior Saints Department of Twin Lakes Baptist Church.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, dear husband, Macon and sister Virginia McClain. Together they had four children: Barbara McDade (Rick) - Memphis, TN; Pat Hamilton (Forrest) - Olive Branch, MS; Burney Macon Bennett, Jr. (Sandra) - Olive Branch, MS and Joe Bennett (Kelly) - Western Grove, AR, 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and three sisters: Ruth Tinnin -Tulare, CA; Dorothy Martin - Salt Lake City, UT and Carolyn Aldridge - Kodak, TN.
Burial will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Mark McDade, Paul McDade, Jody Bennett, Cole Tacker, Greg Bennett, Brad Bennett, Jake Davis and Landon Crider as pallbearers.
