A Funeral Ceremony for Marvin August Freitag, 84, of Oakland, Arkansas, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Michael R. Butler officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time. Marvin died Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Oakland. He was born February 26, 1927 at New Haven, Missouri the son of Raymond and Viola Albertswerth Freitag. He married Barbara Carpenter on July 6, 1985 at Anaheim, California and worked as a High School Music & English Teacher. Marvin Freitag was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific. Marvin lived in Oakland, Arkansas since 1988 moving from Mission Viejo, California. He directed high school choirs, played trumpet, trombone, ukulele, harmonica and piano. Marvin is survived by his wife, Barbara Freitag; three daughters, Catherine (Michael R.) Butler of Fruit Heights, Utah, Jennifer (Adam) Miller of Perris, CA and Jocelyn (Stuart Axe) Grover of Wayne, PA; two sons, Richard Grover of Mission Viejo, CA and Douglas (Wendy) Grover of Riverside, CA; twelve grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Kevin, Sara Jane, Cameron, Bailey, Meredith, Kurt, Kyle, Cody, Amanda and Natalie; one brother; Earl Freitag of St Louis, MO and one sister, Shirley Triplett of Madison, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eloy and one sister, Mutz. Memorials may be made to the Oakland Arkansas Community Center.
