Mary E. Gallagher

Mary E. Gallagher of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away October 3, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 102. She was born August 2, 1922, in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Gale and Mary Thompson Skinner. Mary worked at Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad where she met and later married William J. Gallagher on June 8, 1946, in Calumet City, Illinois. She later worked as a clerk for a trucking company for 20 years. Mary lived in Mountain Home since moving from Munster, Indiana in 1979. She quickly became a member of the Mountain Home Welcome Committee, Boat Club, and Elks Lodge #1714 BPOE. Mary loved to stay active and water-skied up until the age of 83. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a very crafty lady. One of her greatest passions was creating ceramic pieces.

Mary is survived by her sons, Patrick (Beth) Gallagher of South Bend, IN, and William (Linda) Gallagher of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren Michael Gallagher, Carolyn Gallagher, Kelly (Andrew) Craven, Jessica Gallagher, Jennifer (Joseph) Yoon, and Jeffery (Susan) Gallagher; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Yoon, Declan Yoon, Charlotte Gallagher, William Gallagher, and Harvey Gallagher.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, G. Max Skinner, and Fred Skinner; sisters, Helen Blaisdell, Ida Mallory, and Betty Soltwedel; and grandson, Kevin Gallagher. 

Visitation will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service for Mary will follow at 2:00pm, with Reverend Dr. Randy Ludwig officiating. Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
