Mary Angela Vavruska

Mary Angela Vavruska (nee Serenda), 64, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died suddenly on May 28, 2023, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Mary loved motorcycles and rode without incident for nearly 50 years. She attended junior college and obtained an associates degree in culinary arts. She was a wonderful and creative cook, in addition to being an excellent pastry chef. Her kitchen was filled with cookbooks and a huge variety of cooking vessels and tools. She grew most of her own vegetables and herbs. Mary loved dogs and had numerous breeds throughout her life. She often volunteered at a local pet shelter. She loved to travel and visited many states, often camping under the stars. Mary also collected salt and pepper shaker sets and had numerous display cases filled with them.

Mary is survived by her sisters, Mickey (Ron) Perkins, Chris (Chuck) Schank, Joelle Serenda; brother, Steve (Sharon) Serenda; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary also leaves behind her loving and devoted friend, Brad Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mitchell and Mary Ann Serenda; husband, Carl Vavruska; brother, Gregory Serenda; sister, Virginia Du Chattelier; and many loving pets.

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held in the fall in her home state of Illinois.
