Matthew David Jones of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, passed away January 12, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 40. He was born November 3, 1983, in Huntsville, Texas, the son of David and Kierstin Grieb Jones. In 2002 Matthew graduated high school in Huntsville, Texas. Shortly after graduation, Matthew enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed initially in South Korea, then deployed serving in the Iraq War (Operation Iraq Freedom) and prior to separation, he received services from The Wounded Warriors Project at Fort Riley, Kansas. Matthew lived in Arkansas since his honorable discharge from the Army in 2009. Matthew was a member of the VFW Post #3246 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He enjoyed gunsmithing and loved caring for his pets.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Kierstin Jones of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Yesenia B Jones of Huntsville, TX; two sisters, Amanda Kathleen Jones (Bill) of MO, and Megan (John) McCullar of Mountain Home, AR; aunts, Barbara Jones, Patricia (Randy) Tschacher, and Karen Grieb; nieces and nephews, Braven Jones, Grayson Jones, EmberLynn McCullar, Tate, and Kase; and cousins, Dawn McDaniel and Joseph Snyder and his cherished cats.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Jones; paternal grandparents, Colonel A.D. and Beverley Jones; and maternal grandparents, Dale R. Grieb and Barbara Y. Grieb; and paternal uncle, Robert Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be 10:30 am, February 1, 2024 at Mountain Home Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Donathan officiating. Burial will be 10:30 am, March 14, 2024 in the Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
