A Funeral Service for Mazie Lee Cooper of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Monday, January 27, 2014, at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Rex Middleton officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2014, at the funeral home.
Mazie passed away January 21, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 93. She was born January 10, 1921, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, the daughter of Ross and Mable Jenkins Kirby. She grew up in Cherry Valley and married James L. Cooper on July 3, 1937. She spent many years in California before moving to Norfork, Arkansas, where she lived before moving to Mountain Home. She worked at Mar-Bax Shirt Factory and Baxter General hospital before working at Baxter Health Care. She loved to garden and work in the yard with all her beautiful flowers, but most of all she loved her family.
Mazie is survived by her son, Glenn (Rae) Cooper of Prescott, AZ; two daughters, Joyce Bloemer of Fresno, CA and Rita (Jeff) Nady of Mountain Home, AR; five grandchildren, Carrie (Gary) Chun of San Diego, CA, Kirk Cooper of Salinas, CA, Keith (Susanne) Cooper of Ventura, CA, Tim (Karla) Cowart of Mountain Home, AR and Dana (James) Crouch of Mountain Home, AR; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Grogan; brother, Ernest Kirby and grandson, Mark Carter.
She will be remembered for her ability to cook for an army and her mastery of cake decorating.
Burial will be in the Galatia Cemetery, Norfork, Arkansas.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.
