A Gathering of Family and Friends for Melvin H. Alewine of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be from 3:00 until 5:00 pm, Sunday, September 2, 2018, at the home of his sister at 543 Green Valley Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Mel passed away August 19, 2018, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 74. He was born July 10, 1944, in Walhalla, South Carolina, the son of Lawrence H. Alewine and Evelyn Fort (Alewine) Stewart. He married Kitty Marr on August 8, 2015 at Leitchfield, Kentucky and worked as a floor finisher, shrimp boat captain and truck driver. Melvin lived in Tucson, Arizona and Deland, Florida prior to moving to Mountain Home in 2007. He enjoyed fishing, diving, water sports, riding his Harley and computer games. He was loved by those he met along his adventurous and wandering journey through this life. He never met a stranger and always had to share a hug and a joke to make you smile.
Mel is survived by his wife, Kitty Alewine; mother, Evelyn F. Stewart, his sister, Chelsey Alewine (Dan) Brown of Mountain Home; his four children, Cindi, Libby, Jody, Jamie; two step-sons, Tim and Greg and all of their children.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1981 and his brother, Dean Alewine, in 2002.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mountain Home.
