Melvin J. Mills of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away July 6, 2021, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 83. He was born March 3, 1938, on his family's farm in Eustis, Nebraska, the son of Ralph and Ada Douglass Mills. He married Kathleen on February 14, 1983 in Omaha, Nebraska and worked as a Arson Investigator for the Omaha, Nebraska fire department where he retired in 1996, and volunteered for the Mountain Home fire department. Melvin was a proud U.S. Navy and Army veteran. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mountain Home. Melvin was extremely active with community and volunteer efforts and child advocacy. He was a member of the Omaha Optimist Club, and started a branch of the club as a charter member in Mountain Home. He was active with his grandson's cub and boy scouts activities. Melvin's family was important to him. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Kathleen Mills; daughters, Bronda (Thomas) Kennedy, and Patty (John) DeFrancesco; sons, Theron Stamps, and Robert (Geline) Armstrong; grandchildren, Andrew, Jesse, Kady, Huntter, Corbin, Angelina, Alyssa, Amanda, Alexis, Abigail, Thayne, Zachary, Jecci, Sara, Adam, and Julie; many great grandchildren; sisters, Janice and Karen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Kirby and Family Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating. Due to current restrictions, masks are required.
