Melvin Popejoy died Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Mountain Home at the age of 72. Melvin Popejoy was born Saturday, June 20, 1936 in Iowa, son of Virgil and Sarah Channel Popejoy. He married Billie Moser Mathews on December 10, 2007 at Eureka Springs, AR. He worked as a cattle rancher was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Melvin lived in Cotter for 41years, moving from Iowa. Survivors: Melvin Popejoy is survived by his wife, Billie Popejoy of Cotter, AR, 2 sons, Mitchell Popejoy of Cotter, AR, Matthew (Brenda) Popejoy, Iowa, 2 daughters, Mitzi Popejoy, Iowa, Marla (Bob) Adler of Gillett, WY, 3 sisters, Darlene McClemthon of Deep River, IA, Jackie Maakestad of Radcliffe, IA, Nellie (Orin) Mossman of Radcliffe, IA, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother. Funeral: Memorial Services for Melvin Duane Popejoy of Cotter, AR, will be 11:00 Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Danny Hutchison officiating. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
