One of God's Quiet Heroes, passed away Wed, March 4, 2009 in Memphis, TN. Michael Glenn Miller, formerly of Memphis & Bull Shoals, AR, was killed after a trucking accident in which he maneuvered his gasoline-filled tanker off the busy interstate ramp in such a way to prevent an explosion & others getting hurt. Michael, known to all as "Mike", was 46 years old. Mike was born December 18, 1962 in Millington, Tennessee to James & Retha Miller. He graduated from Millington Central High School in 1981 and pursued a career as a Certified Auto Mechanic at Expert Tune & Bryant Goodyear. In 2001, he graduated from MS Carrier Truck Driving Academy with his CDL and Tanker & Hazmat Endorsements. Mike also became a Trainer, in which he instructed new drivers on DOT rules & regulations, general truck driving skills and safety measures and how to handle emergency situations. He has received several awards for his safe driving skills throughout his driving career. He worked for a couple of companies, even as a cross-country driver, before going to work for Magness Oil. In his spare time, you could find Mike at his computer, recording music or surfing the Web. He loved all types of music, often recording CD's for his family & friends. He was an avid Nascar fan, collected "unique" logo hats and t-shirts & was known to be an excellent cook. His specialty was a Boston Butt on the grill. He never lost his desire for working on cars. Friends & family often called on him for help when having any kind of car trouble. Survivors: Mike is survived by his father James Miller of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, a sister, Teresa Miller, also of Bull Shoals. He has two uncles Burt Gore (Shirley) of Holiday Island, Arkansas and Tommy Miller(Kathy) of Hobbs, New Mexico, several cousins and many, many friends. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his mother, Retha Miller on March 2, 2008. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4-6pm Tuesday, March 10 at Kirby and Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals. Funeral: He will be laid to rest on Wednesday March 11 at Kirby Tucker Memorial Cemetery. A Graveside service will be at 2pm with Reverend Nicholas Lascaro officiating. A Memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Community of Christ Church, 3548 Brunswick Rd., Bartlett, Tennessee. Active Bearers: Sam Orr, Larry Wisdom, Rick Alexander, Brad Hemby, Jerry Jacobs and Chuck Zonick will be pallbearers.
