Michael Curtis Murray, 78, of Yellville, Arkansas, passed away on February 7, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on February 12, 1946, in Patuxent River, Maryland, to Thomas and Anne McGraw Oliver.
A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Michael served in the Vietnam War and later continued his public service with the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. On April 25, 2003, he married the love of his life, Judy Powers, in Albany. In 2008, he and Judy relocated to Yellville, Arkansas, where he became an integral part of the community.
Michael dedicated over 20 years to hospice work in both Albany and Mountain Home, earning the distinguished Volunteer of the Year Award in 2016. He was also a passionate advocate for Alcoholics Anonymous, offering support to those in need. Michael healed his own wounds by participating in a Veteran's healing dance and walking the Red Road. Known for his warm heart and infectious optimism, Michael never met a stranger and believed that every day was the best day of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Murray of Yellville, AR; son, Peter ( Mary Zweber) Murray of Burbank, SD; daughter, Christina (Jamie) Sanderson; son, Timothy (Jane) Powers; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Michael is also survived by his niece, Shannon Strick and nephews, Brant Murray and TC Murray.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Powers; his sister, Katherine; and his brother, Tom.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals with Chief Bud Grimes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks in Michael’s honor.
