Mildred Hurst

Services for Mildred Virginia Hurst of Gamaliel, AR, will be Friday, September 18, 2009 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Thursday, August 15 at the Heil - Schuessler Funeral Home, New Athens, Illinois. Mildred Hurst died Monday, September 14, 2009 in Gamaliel at the age of 85. She was born Thursday, January 10, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri , daughter of Lloyd and Mary Shryock Lawyer. She married William Hurst III on June 28, 1941 at St. Louis, Missouri. She was a Homemaker for most of her adult life . Mildred lived in Gamaliel since 1966, moving from St. Louis, Missouri . She was a self-taught artist who loved to give her paintings to family and friends, former owner of the 101 Boatdock in Gamaliel, Arkansas, and active in the Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department Auxillary, the "G.G.'s". Married 65 years, her joy in life was her family. Mildred is survived by Son, William Hurst IV of New Athens, IL, Son & Daughter-in-Law, James (Jane) Hurst of Lewisville, Texas, Daughter & Son-in-Law, Kathleen (Victor) Nuernberger of Gamaliel, Arkansas, Grandson, John (Dana) Sandell, Grandson, Scott Sandell, Grandson, Bill (Bridgett) Hurst, Granddaughter, Adrienne Hurst, Grandson, Jacob Hurst, Grandson, Brian Hurst, Granddaughter, Angela (Christopher) Lynch, 5 Great- Grandchildren, Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by Parents, Husband William, 10 brothers and sisters. Burial will be in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
