Visitation for Myrtle Manders of Mountain Home, Arkansas will be Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Kirby and Family Funeral Home, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
Myrtle (Lee) Manders passed away January 11, 2015 at the age of 97. She has lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since February 1981, relocating from Black River Falls, Wisconsin. She was born in Disco, Wisconsin on April 20, 1917, to Julius and Mina (Trones) Lee and attended school in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
On December 6, 1941, she was married to Robert Dietz and moved to Waukegan, Illinois. While Bob was overseas, in the Army, in World War II, she worked for the Bendix Corporation, assembling dashboards for military planes. Following the war, she spent 15 years as a Supervisor of Payrolls with the Pacific Steel Boiler Division of Nation Radiator Corp. She then spent four years as the office staff of the Swedish Glee Club (a private club) in Waukegan.
In 1964, Robert and Myrtle established the Rustic Mill, a Supper Club, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. They sold the Club in 1975. Robert passed away on April 30, 1977. From 1975 to May 1979, Myrtle took over Food Management for the Arrowhead Restaurant.
Myrtle was married to Philip Manders on October 24, 1981, in Mountain Home. Philip passed away on November 11, 1991.
A lifetime bowler, Myrtle participated in 31 International Women's Bowling Association competitions. An avid golfer, she was active as a member of the Twin Lakes Women's League.
Myrtle was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as a member of the Altar Guild for 15 years.
She is survived by two sisters: Helen Meek of Mountain home and Jean Vail of Iowa and several nieces and nephews. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Elvin Lee and two sisters, Albertine Schankey and Marie Stephens.
Memorial may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House at Mountain Home, Arkansas
