A Memorial Service for Norman "Norm" LeRoy Hockley of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, will be 11:00 am, Monday, April 3, 2017, at Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Dr. Fred Taylor officiating.
Norm passed away March 22, 2017, in Flippin, Arkansas at the age of 82. He was born September 25, 1934, in Elmira, Oregon, the son of Walter and Minnie (Pat) Courtwright Hockley. He married Carmen Royse on August 25, 1958, at Wasco, Oregon and worked in plywood manufacturing. Norm served his country in the United States Army before his marriage and was called back in for a brief stint in 1962. He was a member of the Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Bull Shoals Chamber of Commerce for several years. Norm truly had the "gift" of gab and was a well known member of the community. He was always very giving, accepting of others, non-judgmental, supportive, and had a great deal of integrity in both his work and personal life. Norm had a big heart, truly cared about others, and would almost always make others smile and often times laugh.
Norm is survived by his daughters, Marcia Fraley of Madison, WI, Norma Daw (Alice) of Alexandria, LA, and Erica Hockley of Austin, TX; sister, Doris Hockley Jones (Gary) of Hepner, OR; grandchildren Wade Fraley (Melissa Dallmann), Larissa Steffes (Matt) both of Madison, WI, and Lauren Daw of Gilbert, LA; and great grandson Zane Daw also of Gilbert, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Carmen Hockley, and sister Patricia Hockley Garner.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
