Opal Maxine Ghrist

Opal Maxine Ghrist, 93, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Opal was born on November 19, 1929, in Mitchell, Arkansas, to John Richman and Olva Sue Mitchell Harris. She graduated from Viola High School and then she married Donald Ghrist on November 19, 1949 in Gainesville, Missouri. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and gardening. Opal loved her family, especially her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Opal is survived by son, Mitchel Ghrist of Little Rock, AR; daughter, Donna (Gary) Sanders of Nixa, MO; two grandsons, Christopher L (Renee) Sanders of Lowell, AR, and Aaron M (Brittney) Sanders of Nixa, MO; and three great-grandsons, Shaun M, Joshua L, and Caleb R. Sanders.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Arthur Harris, and Vernie Harris; and three sisters, Pearl Harris-Newton, Wanda Harris-Burge, and Joyce Harris-Hall.

Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Mackey Cemetery, in Pomona, Missouri, with Brother William Tunstall officiating.

Memorial donations may be made in Opal's name to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, 774 Long Street, Mountain Home, AR 72653 or the American Cancer Society.
