Oscar E. Swim

Oscar E. "Bud" Swim of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away October 28, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 88. He was born May 29, 1936, in Langlade, Wisconsin, the son of William and Josephine Ramey Swim. He married Kathy DuBois on July 31, 1958 in Beach Park, Illinois. Bud worked as a machinist for OMC Johnson Motors for 31 years. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1992. Bud had a heart for giving and volunteered with Baxter Health and the Bargain Box for over 20 years. He also spent many years working to raise funds for the Mountain Home Police Department as part of the MHCPAAA. He loved to spend time petting cats when he volunteered at the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas and was known to take a few cats home. Bud enjoyed golf, playing the lottery, and card games. He particularly enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. His family knew him for the silly phrases he came up with, they lovingly called "Bud-isms".

Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathy Swim of Mountain Home, AR; children, Jeffrey (Betsy) Swim of Rolling Meadows, IL, Jennifer Kaye Hallgren of Hudson, FL, and Randall Scott Swim of Camdenton, MO; granddaughter, Jessica; sisters, Millie and Myrt; and sister-in-law, Linda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, David; 5 brothers; and 5 sisters. 

Visitation will be Friday, November 1, 2024, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Service for Bud will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Randy Ludwig officiating. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
