A funeral service for Paul John Stroope of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Ron Morgan officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the funeral home.
Paul died Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Baxter Regional Medical Center, at the age of 88. He was born May 11, 1922 in Claypool, Oklahoma, the son of K. C. and Ola Hopper Stroope. He married Anastasia Westra on June 26, 1976 and worked as a superintendent 32 years for Nielsen Construction Co., San Diego, California. He lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1984 moving from San Diego, California. He was a college basketball fan and played on the Oklahoma State Basketball Champions for Claypool, Oklahoma in 1940. He was a great woodworker, had a tremendous work ethic and enjoyed country music.
Paul is survived by his wife, Anastasia Stroope of Mountain Home, AR, 1 daughter, Paula (Jay) Helmantoler of San Diego, CA; 2 grandsons, Michael (Bonnie) and John Paul Helmantoler; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Aaron and Alyssa; 3 brothers, George Stroope of Los Angeles, CA, Woodrow Stroope of Bakersfield, CA and Floyd Stroope of Folsom, CA; 2 sisters, Kay Schunk of Tracy, CA and Edna Cary of Santa Barbara, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Burial will be in the Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, California.
