Perry Gaylon Green

November 1, 1944 — May 8, 2016

Perry Gaylon "Gringo" Green, 71, of Flippin Arkansas, passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday May 8th, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He married the love of his life, Dana Lane in 1978 and together they spent their lives thriving in nature and being outdoors. It's going to be hard to write this obituary without including her, because she was always by his side. Each year they would go on outdoor adventures that took them to places like Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Alaska and Arkansas. It was their love of nature that had them leave their life long home of Austin, Texas and retire in a small town at the foot of the Ozark Mountains. Perry was an avid fisherman, hunter, organic gardener, gourmet cook, carpenter and bluegrass musician. He could fix anything, build anything and knew everything there was to know about how to survive outdoors.

Perry was an unbelievably good man. He honored his family and his friendships. People knew they could count on him and trust him. He wasn't known for talking a lot, but when he did talk, everyone stopped what they were doing to listen, because what he had to say was probably important. He thrived in life and tried to make the very most of each day.

One of the things we will remember the most about him is his incredible smile. He continued to smile all through his illness and even into his last hours, under excruciating conditions. He smiled when his children called for the last time. He smiled when his best friend called. And he smiled when his soul-mate took his hand and said, "I love you."

Perry is an only child and is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his beloved wife Dana, his two children, Suzanne and Lane, his granddaughter, Kaiya Pelletier, as well as many extended relatives and close friends.

A tribute to honor his life will be held in the near future.
