A memorial service for Philip Ernest Fournier, 71, of Bull Shoals will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals with Reverend Jerry Backus officiating. Military honors will be by Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post #1341. Mr. Fournier died Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at his residence. Philip Ernest Fournier was born July 2, 1935, at South Brewer, Maine, to Joseph and Edna Mae Baker Fournier. He married Gladys May Hall on August 6, 1956, at Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Fournier was a Vietnam veteran and logistical engineer in the U.S. Army. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 after serving 24 years in the U.S. Army. He lived in Bull Shoals since moving from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1977. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Fournier was a former member of The Golden Knights (The Army Parachute Team). He was past President of Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club, former state Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and a life member of Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post #1341. He was of Baptist faith. Philip Ernest Fournier is survived by his wife Gladys Fournier of Bull Shoals; one daughter, Linda and husband David Alvirez of Bull Shoals; one son, Joseph and wife Lisa Fournier II of Canton, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Stephen and wife Amanda Alvirez; Daniel and wife Natalie Alvirez; Jennifer Alvirez; Tiffany, Joseph III, Mikayla, Lindsay and Kelsie Fournier; Susanna Cagle; four great-grandchildren, Mason, Andrea, Maria, Sylvia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Philip Fournier Jr. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation.
