Philip Vernon Wenzel was born January 25, 1922 at Manning, Iowa to Edmund and Matilda Schultz. He was adopted as an infant by his uncle and aunt Helmuth and Frieda Wenzel. He married Evelyn Gessmann May 23, 1943 at Manilla, Iowa and resided in the Mountain Home area since 1992 moving from Westside, Iowa. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Philip Vernon Wenzel entered into eternal rest on October 3, 2007 at the age of 85 years, 9 months and 8 days. Survivors: He is survived by:Wife - Evelyn Wenzel of Mountain Home;2 sons - Philip C. Wenzel and his wife Darlene of Summer, Washington, and Paul Wenzel and his wife Cathy of Pinson, Alabama; 2 Daughters - Susan Nixon and her husband David of Bull Shoals and Sylvia Uhl and her husband Larry of Merrill, Iowa;1 son-in-law - John Derby of Sioux City, Iowa; 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his mother and father, adoptive parents, 1 daughter, Sandra Derby, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation: Visitation is 5:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, October 5, 2007 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral service 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Ken Taglauer officiating.
