Quinnie Edward Gilchrist, 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Quinnie was born on April 9, 1936, in Malvern, Arkansas, to Quinnie and Lily Harp Gilchrist. He graduated from Malvern High School and went on to get a chemistry degree from Henderson State University. Quinnie served in the United States National Guard. He married Louella Efird on July 6, 1956 in Malvern, Arkansas. He started his career as a chemist, working for Malvern Brick and Tile Company. In 1967, he moved to Mountain Home and went to work for Baxter Lab. After more than 25 years, he retired as a chemist supervisor. Quinnie was best known as a collector. He collected Hot Wheels, coins, stamps, arrowheads, and so much more. He was a long-time member of East Side Baptist Church.
Quinnie is survived by wife, Louella Gilchrist of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Karen Ezell of Mountain Home, AR; son, Kenneth (Marilyn) Gilchrist of Rogers, AR; five grandchildren, Brandy, Brook, Robert (Salle-Anne), William (Rae-Ann), and James; four great-grandchildren, Lani, Jonathan, Charlie-Anne, and Meryl; and one great-great-granddaughter, Stella.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ervyn Gilchrist; and sister, Jan Gilchrist.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Scott Speer officiating.
