A Celebration of Life for Rittenburg "Joseph" Carter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Trent Alexander officiating.
Joseph passed away June 9, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 87. He was born January 28, 1927, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Rittenburg and Helen Aguspus Carter. He married Sarah carter and worked in maintenance for a boat manufacturing company. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Joseph lived in Mountain Home since 1988, moving from Bakersfield, North Carolina. He enjoyed traveling as well as creating and building things.
Joseph is survived by his two sons, David (Thelma) Carter of Mountain Home, AR and Rick (Carolyn) Carter of Mountain Home, AR; one daughter, JoAnne (Fred) Timmons of Bowman, SC; two brothers, Eddie Carter of Charleston, SC and Tony Carter of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Nancy Sineath of North Charleston, SC and Helen Atkins of Dorchester, SC and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers.
Inurnment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Military Honors will be provided by the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard.
