A Funeral Service for Ralph Charles "Chuck" Smock of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jami Scott officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 am until 10:45 am. Masonic Rites will be provided by the Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #225 F&AM. Military Honors will be following the service at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery Open-Air Chapel and provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and the United States Army Honor Guards.
Ralph passed away September 3, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 92. He was born October 16, 1924, in Slater, Missouri, the son of John and Bernice Seward Smock. He married Gloria Scheurer on April 16, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois and worked as a locomotive engineer. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Ralph lived in Mountain Home since moving from Chicago, Illinois, in 1987. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed scouting and fishing. Gloria was the light and love of his life, whom he dearly missed after she passed away in 2012.
Ralph is survived by his three sons, David (Rita) Smock of Chicago, IL, Dennis (Margaret) Smock of Chicago, IL, and Allen (Amy) Smock of Palos Hills, IL; daughter, Beth Ann (Leslie) Ast of Michigan City, IN; eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria Ann Smock; and son, Ralph E. Smock.
