There is a memorial service scheduled for Ray M. Kopczewski of Mountain Home, Arkansas, on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Heritage Nursing Home, Minonk, Illinois, at 6:30 pm. Services, in Mountain Home, will be announced at a later date. Ray passed away December 15, 2012, at the age of 87. He was born March 25, 1925, in Cicero, Illinois, the son of Michael and Stella Talarek Kopczewski. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he fought in Europe on D-day. On his return, he married Florence Blazkiewicz on July 17, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. Ray worked at Phillips Manufacturing for 20 years, then as an auto mechanic for his boyhood friends. He retired in 1987, at age 62 and moved from Orland Park, IL, to Mountain Home, AR., where Florence died in 1991. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, traveling, square dancing and spending time with his love, Josie Dodd. Ray came to Minonk three years ago after a stroke. Ray is survived by his son, Michael Kopczewski and his wife Roberta of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Sandra Huffman of Ancona, IL; grandchildren, Christine Mahan of Minonk, IL, Angela Nesbit, Belle Chase, LA and Brian Huffman of Ancona, IL and four great grandchildren, Brenen, Carson, Avery and Gracie. Ray was preceded in death by his parents ? Michael & Stella, wife ? Florence, brother - Harry and Sisters - Virginia and Grace. Inurnment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Ray would have appreciated any contributions made to the ?Wounded Warriors Fund. ?
