Raymond Hood

Raymond Hood died Monday, November 17, 2008 in Norfork at the age of 92. He was born Wednesday, July 12, 1916 in Chafee, Missouri, son of John H. and Sarah Cronin Hood. He married Nina Cantwell on November 29, 1970 at Marion, Arkansas and worked as a truck driver for Gordon Transport. Raymond Hood was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Raymond lived in Norfork since 1974 moving from West Memphis, Arkansas. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. He was the fire chief in Norfork for 10 years and a school bus driver for Norfork school. He loved spending time with his children. Survivors: Raymond is survived by his wife, Nina Hood and 6 sons, Raymond G. (Peggy) Hood, Jr. of Grandburg, TX, John H. Hood of Hazelwood, MO, Ronald G. Hood of Memphis, TN, Charles E. Hood of West Memphis, AR, Steven D. (Desiree) Hood of Pineville, AR and James L. (Maria) Hood of Salesville, AR, 5 daughters, Georgianna Van Iseghiem of St. Anns, MO, Toni Byrd of St. Louis, MO, Diann (Dave) Creech of Little Rock, AR, Beverly Bolden of West Memphis, AR and Sara (Sonny) Branan of Jordan, AR, 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and 3 grandchildren. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, November 19 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral services for Raymond G. Hood of Norfork, AR, will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Norfork Baptist Church, with Brother David Wiley officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Norfork Cemetery, Norfork, Arkansas. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the family. Active Bearers: Scott Bolden, Ed Brossett, Jr., Steven Hood, Greg Skidmore, Steven Hood, Sr., and Jed Hood as pallbearers.
