A Memorial Service for Raymond Plaster, 87, of Bull Shoals, AR will be 11AM, Friday, May 2, 2014, at Kirby & Family Funeral & Home in Bull Shoals, AR with Brother Roger Rogers officiating. Military Honors by Hoevel-Barnett V.F.W. Post #1341 Honor Guard. Raymond died April 27, 2014, at his home.
Raymond was born May 22, 1926 at Springfield, MO to Henry Mansfield and Camilla Ralston Plaster. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy as a Signalman 3rd Class in the Asiatic Pacific. He was a groceryman and started his career opening Plaster’s Master Markets in Springfield, MO. He later worked for Associated Wholesale Grocers then moved to Arkansas in 1969 and opened a grocery store in Bull Shoals, AR. He merged his stores with Harp’s Markets, and then established Ramon’s Markets until his retirement. Raymond married Annettia Carol Hart on December 23, 1994, at Gainesville, MO. He was 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Flippin Assembly of God Church. Raymond’s true passion was classic cars, Packards and Model A’s. He won the Grand Nationals Award with a 1936 Ford Cabriolet and completely restored Jaun Peron’s presidential limousine, a 1939 Packard Phaeton, which also earned numerous awards. The limousine was the favorite of Jaun’s wife, Evita Peron.
Raymond is survived by his wife Carol of Bull Shoals, AR; sons, Raymond I. Plaster (Doris) of Springfield, MO, Mike Pettet (Robin) of Republic, MO and Jerry Tiner of Gentry, AR; daughters, Pamela Sue Chesney (Gary) of San Jose, CA, Camilla M. Hyde (Ramon) of Springfield, MO and Kim Barth of N. Little Rock, AR; sister, Theodosia Plaster of Silver Springs, MD and thirteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Henry Plaster.
Memorials may be made to the Assemblies of God World Mission in Africa for the Orphanage.
