Reita Pearl Johnson of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away July 31, 2021, in Gassville, Arkansas at the age of 86. She was born December 31, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, the daughter of Roy and Beulah Wright Mowers. She married Paul Johnson on October 1, 1955, in Kankakee, Illinois, and retired as a junior high school media technician for the Flossmoor School District after more than ten years. Reita lived in Gassville since moving from Crete, Illinois, in 1986. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene. She was a bed and breakfast hostess and enjoyed sewing and painting.
Reita is survived by her husband, Paul E. Johnson of Gassville, AR; son, Michael (Debbie) Johnson of Gassville, AR; two daughters, Charlene (Loyd) Hampton of Yellville, AR, and Kimberly (Leon) Holcomb of WA; sister, Margaret Priefert; 15 grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Megan Roncoli, Sunny Maleki, Lori McCullough, Brent Butterfield, Lori McCullough, Jean-Paul Holcomb, Geoffry Holcomb, Nicholas Holcomb, Elizabeth Hillier, Sarah Piccari, David Holcomb, Abigail Holcomb-Rodriguez, and Isaac Holcomb; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Albert Ambaugh and Gilbert Mowers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Sunny Maleki, Brent Butterfield, Justin Butterfield, Dustin Johnson, Jean-Paul Holcomb, and Leon Holcomb as pallbearers. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, at the Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene. Due to current restrictions, masks are required at all services.
