She "loved life" is how family and friends describe Retha A. Miller, 75, of Bull Shoals, AR, who passed away Saturday, March 2, 2008. Retha was born Feb. 23, 1933 in Tulsa, OK to Doris and Hampton Gore. She married James E. Miller, of Millcreek, OK on November 5, 1954. Retha worked as a Registered Nurse, primarily in Labor and Delivery, as she and Jim traveled world-wide with his US Navy career. The Labor and Delivery Unit at Millington Naval Hospital was dedicated to Retha at her retirement as recognition of her many years of compassionate care. She and Jim moved to Bull Shoals 8 years ago to enjoy their retirement. Retha was an active member of the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church, where she loved to sing with her choir. She was well known for her beautiful solos. She was President of the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church Women's Society and led the quarterly Bull Shoals Red Cross Blood Drive. Retha brought smiles and laughter to everyone she met. She spent her mornings with her exercise buddies, enjoyed woodcarving and cooking, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Her most precious times were spent fishing with her husband. Her husband and children were the loves of her life. Survivors: She is survived by husband Jim Miller of Bull Shoals, a daughter Teresa Miller also of Bull Shoals and her son Mike Miller of Memphis, Tennessee. Her brother Burt Gore (Shirley) of Holiday Island, Arkansas. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 5 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home, Bull Shoals, AR Funeral: Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Bull Shoals United Methodist Church with Reverend Nicholas Lascaro officiating.
