Reverend Edwards

Rev. Ray Edwards was born March 27, 1924 at Beech Grove, Arkansas to William and Martha Ellen Davidson Edwards. He married Gleda Marie Griggry on November 19, 1942 in Beech Grove. Rev. Edwards was a member of North Arkansas Conference of The United Methodist Church for 38 years serving churches from Northeast Arkansas to Northwest Arkansas including Cotter, Bull Shoals, Yellville, Mountain View, Dardanelle, Grace in Searcy and Bald Knob. Rev. Edwards retired in 1986 and moved to Mountain Home from Bald Knob, and is a member of the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Edwards earned a Bachelor of Science in Theology from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and battled diabetes for 53 years. Survivors: Rev. Edwards is survived by his wife, Gleda; two sons, Don and Susie Edwards of Bartlesville, OK. and Gary Wayne Edwards of Gassville; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Â? Houston and Bill Edwards of Paragould, AR and Clifton of Beech Groove; 1 sister, Emma Jean Stallcup of Paragould. Preceded in Death by: He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 daughters Â? Carol, Kathy, and Martha. Visitation: Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Funeral: Funeral services for Rev. Ray H. Edwards of Mountain Home will be at Beech Grove Methodist Church in Beech Grove, AR on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Russell Moore officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Arkansas Diabetes Association or the First United Methodist Church building fund.
