A Funeral Service for Rex Bell of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, April 8, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Rex passed away April 3, 2013, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 77. He was born May 6, 1935, in Franklin Park, Illinois, the son of Florence Lyle and Ester Anderson Bell. He married Francis Brott on March 3, 1966 at Colorado Springs, Colorado and worked as a brakeman for the railroad. Rex was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He served from 1955 through 1968, doing two tours in Vietnam and was a two time Purple Heart recipient. Rex lived in Mountain Home since 1971, moving from Wyoming. He was a lifetime member of the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 and Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and loved craft work.
Rex is survived by his four sons, Lawrence (Cassie) Bell of Flippin, AR, John Bell of Cotter, AR, Eugene (Dayna) Bell of Jennings, LA and David (Mary) Swartz of Radcliffe, KY: one daughter, Diane Swartz of Indiana; 18 grandchildren, Meghan, Luke, Drew, Savannah, Noah, Jacob, Stephanie, Kayla, Hailey, Nicholaus, Susan, Kelly, Raymond, Lisa, Ashley, Randy, Kristen and Jason and nine great-grandchildren, Jak, Landon, Eli, Brandon, Kayley, Bryar, Lily, Josh and Sebastian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Daniel Dominic Swartz and grandson, Joshua Ethan Swartz.
Military Honors will be provided by the Ozark V.F.W. Post 3246 Honor Guard and U.S. Army Active Duty Honor Guard.
