Richard Greene

December 3, 1925 — April 20, 2013

Funeral services for Richard F. Greene, 87, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas will be 11AM Monday April 29, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals with Pastor?s Dave Hamner, Billy Keys, Jerry Backus and Danny Pomeroy officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM until time of service at the church. Military Honors by the United States Marines and the Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341 VFW. Richard left this earth April 20, 2013, at 8:25AM at peace with his face glowing. Jesus had sent his Angel to take Richard?s hand and take him to heaven into the arms of Jesus Christ, his Saviour. Meeting and talking to Richard, you knew he loved the Lord, was a proud Marine and a dedicated Cubs and Bears fan.

Richard and his twin brother were born on December 3, 1925 at Highland Park, MI to Erwin F. and Martha Ethel Cole Greene. His parents moved to Mozart Street in Chicago and his father took the boys to many Cubs games instilling in him his life long love of the Cubs and Bears, Richard and his friends enlisted in the Marines after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After boot camp he was sent to Pearl Harbor and assigned to the 6th Marine Division aboard the CA-24USSPensacola. They sailed through the South Pacific (Solomon Islands, Coral Sea, Guadalcanal, Japan Battle of Midway) being torpedoed along the way and losing many men and officers. The last battle was at Iwo Jimo. After being discharged in 1945 he returned to Chicago and married Harriet McDowell and had three children before Harriet passed away from cancer. Richard married Judy Keys (Tullis) and Married in 1987 in Princeton, WI. They retired to Bull Shoals, AR where he played the piano at nursing homes and the organ for church. He loved fishing the lake and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Judy Greene of Bull Shoals, AR; son, Thomas Greene (Susan) of LaValle, WI; two daughters, Donna Joy Dolgner (Neil) of Marshfield, WI and Mary Dahlke (Jerry) of Kelso, WA; one step-son, Reverend Billy Keys (Nancy) of Appleton, WI; eleven grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and good friends George and Virginia Davis, Kevin Weigler, and Kathy Sweeney. His first wife, brother and parents preceded him in death.
