Richard Q. McDonald passed away June 3, 2022, at the age of 92, at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center due to pneumonia and related heart complications. Dick was born September 12, 1929, in Lakewood, Ohio, the son of Henry A. McDonald and Hazel K. McDonald. He was a graduate of Manhattan, Kansas High School, and Kansas State University where he received his Liberal Arts Degree. Dick was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Arnold Air Society while attending the University. He married Sylvia J. Reinking on July 12, 1952.
Dick entered the United States Air Force immediately after graduation. He served as a pilot during conflicts in Korea and Vietnam. After 28 years of active duty, Dick retired as a Colonel. He relocated to the Cotter, Arkansas, area in 1979 where he and his wife built their retirement home. After the death of his wife, Dick left his Arkansas home and moved to The Colonnade, a retirement facility in Surprise, Arizona. He resided there until his death.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia McDonald; his parents, Henry and Hazel McDonald; and his brother, Joseph M. McDonald.
Funeral Services with military honors will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Military Honors will be presented by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
