Richard "Rick" Moerbe was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950 to Marvin & Edna Moerbe. Born the youngest of two with his older sister, Patricia "Patsy" Moerbe. He loved playing football with his friends and spending time with his cousins in Bishop. He was raised in the Lutheran faith and attended church as a youngster.
After graduating high school, he apprenticed as a welder. He specialized in welding, constructing and pipe fitting for over 40 years and retired in his early 60's. Anyone who met Rick, would describe him as a straight shooter and a tell-it-like-it-is kinda person. He said what he meant and didn't mind if it ruffled your feathers. As he liked to say, "people call me Rick the Prick". While he was rough around the edges, he was soft on the inside. He loved and took care of those around him and always put his best foot forward. At his core he was a hard worker, provider, protector, reliable friend and a wonderful man.
He has many life-long friends and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved the outdoors, nature, deer hunting, watching his football (especially his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys) and spending quiet time at home. He had many hunting adventures in Texas, Wyoming and Arkansas with several deer and other animal trophies to showcase. He had so many great stories to share that would always make you laugh.
Rick was loved dearly by those closest to him, including his wife Karen (married for 28 years), children and step-children including Dallis(Jamie), Martina(Juan), Tonya (Rick), Dotty (Ray) and Chris(Wade). His grandchildren including Annabella, Connor, Destiny, Alyssa, Hunter, Joleen, Mallory, Jackson, Vivian, Lydia, Dave and Jon. And great grand-children including Oaklynn, Waylon, Jeremiah, Veronica and Jacob.
On Saturday Oct 12th 2024, Rick passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, at the young age of 74. We will forever miss him and cherish all the good times we had together.
