A Memorial Service for Richard H. Weerts of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating. A Gathering of Friends will be at 1:00 pm until time of service.
Richard passed away February 20, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 80. He was born July 15, 1934, in Hinsdale, Illinois, the son of Harry and Marie Bode Weerts. He married Dade "Dede" Watt on September 10, 1960, in Hinsdale, Illinois and worked in sales for Johnson & Johnson. Richard was a radio operator in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. He lived in Mountain Home since 1995, moving from Lombard, Illinois. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge #1714 BPOE and enjoyed fishing, reading and writing. Richard loved to play cards and volunteered at the library for many years.
Richard is survived by his wife, Dade "Dede" Weerts of Mountain Home, AR; two sons, Andrew R Weerts of Schamburg, IL and Douglas W. (Wei) Weerts of Mount Prospect, IL; two grandchildren, Richard and Liliya and one sister, Eilieen Lofgren of Naples, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Violet Weerts and LaVerne Schaible,
