Richard Lynn Wortendyke

Richard Lynn Wortendyke, 74, passed away in the comfort of his home on August 8, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Rick was born on June 26, 1948 in Altadena, California, to Paul and Ellen Wortendyke. Rick graduated from Arcadia High School in 1966. Rick proudly served in the United States Army stationed in Europe from 1968 until 1974 and was awarded the National Defense Service Sharp Shooter Medal. Rick began his career as a truck driver and went on to work for various companies before retiring and moving to Arkansas to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

Some of Rick's proudest moments were to be able to walk his granddaughter, Brittany down the isle for her wedding in Key West, attending all his granddaughter Ashlee's theater performances at Mountain Home High School as well as attending her recent graduation from ASUMH and being there for the birth of his first great grandchild Theo. Rick loved being with his dogs Cleo and Jill and found much joy volunteering at Baxter Regional Medical Center. He also enjoyed relaxing and spending time with his family, barbecuing, smoking prime rib and wearing his Arkansas Razorback gear.

Rick is survived by his daughter Monika (Danny) Bales of Bakersfield, MO, son, Marc (Karyn) Wortendyke of Los Alamos, CA; sister, Linda Mungarro of Yuma City, WA; five grandchildren, Brittany and husband Bradley, Ashlee, Joseph, Ryder, Kade; great-grandson, Theodore; and companion Marcos Gonzales and his mother Chris.

Rick is preceded in death by his wife Marie Louise, parents and two brothers, William and Robert.
