It was a bitter cold night on the 14th of December, when a bunch of bikers broke the Covid rules of a hospital in Batesville, Arkansas during the year 2020. Family and friends surrounded Rick Allen “Castaway” Pollock, 68, of Viola, Arkansas while he ordered everybody one last round of root beer floats. Later, the gifted storyteller left all of those who thought he was close to perfect; but not totally perfect.
Rick was born August 27, 1952, in Hamilton, California, the son of Robert and Harriet “ Rose” Lutz Pollock. According to legend his parents were on a cruise and that just happened to be the closest port. After years of mischief and some mayhem he finally married the love of his life, Margie Ann Dugger. Rick joined the Air Force, became a Noncommissioned Officer and was very modest about his deployments and years of service. He golfed, tattooed, fished, rode motorcycles and had many other hobbies. After the unplanned passing of his wife, he moved his two children, Teresa (Rej) Justice and Erick Pollock to the Ozark Mountains. It was here where he continued his life - long love affair with motorcycles and joined the Iron Order MC. Some days he got into as many adventures as his grandsons, Kendrick Justice and Judge Justice. On other occasions he could be found telling his stories on the porch of the local Fun Days Restaurant in Viola, Arkansas or wandering off to another state on a bike ride. In addition to his parents and wife, Rick is preceded in death by his sister; Lani Lee Hotard and step-brother John David Coffey. Rick could relate to people from all walks of life. He valued character over pedigree and solely cared if they rode; despite their affiliation or their ride.
A Memorial Service for Rick will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Chip (OCG) Bruton officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52, United States Air Force Honor Guard, and the Patriot Guard Riders.
Following the conclusion of the service, attendees are invited to participate in the “Last Ride” to Optimus Rec. Center, 34779 Hwy 5, Optimus, AR, 72519. Due to current restrictions masks are required during the service.
Memorial may be made to Soldier ON Service Dogs, Inc., 2378 West Moore Lane, Fayetteville, AR, 72704
