A Celebration of life for Robert D. "Captain Bob" Axtell, USN Ret., 69, of Bull Shoals will be at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home.
Military honors will be provided by Ozark VFW Post #3246 Honor Guard.
Bob Axtell passed away at his residence Thursday, October 8, 2009. Robert Duane Axtell was born January 16, 1940 at Little Rock, Arkansas to Erwin Duane and Nancy Catherine Powell Axtell. He married Nobuki "Tomiko" Jinnai on April 22, 1980 in Sasebo, Japan. Bob served 36 years in the Navy and retired at the rank of Captain. He moved to the Twin Lakes area in 1994 from Guam. He was the former owner of the Bayman Liquor Store in Cotter. He was a member of the Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post in Bull Shoals, the Mountain Home Moose Lodge and he loved to sing and be on the ocean.
Captain Bob is survived by his wife, Tomiko Axell of Bull Shoals, two sons, Robert D. (Paula) Axtell, Jr. of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Henry (Hiroshi) Mitchell of San Jose, California, two daughters, Robin K. Axtell Crane of Bell, Florida and Ginger Lee Axtell of Albequerque, New Mexico, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Nancy (Charles) Casey of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Interment will be in the Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks.
