Robert "Bob" George James of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away May 30, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 89. He was born January 31, 1934, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of George and Sadie McCorkel James. Bob was very active in swimming and diving, and later became a diving coach and business teacher at Wauwatosa East High School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. He received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Wisconsin State University in Whitewater, Wisconsin. In 1954, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and is a veteran of the Korean War. Upon returning to the United States, Bob was assigned to payroll duty at Camp Pendleton in California. He married the love of his life, JoAnn McKee on December 30, 1961, in Marengo, Illinois. The couple lived in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin for over 30 years and moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1997. Bob was a member of Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Mountain Home.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, JoAnn James of Mountain Home, AR; son, Brian C. (Nancy) James of Bentonville, AR; daughter, Rita J. Novotney of Oconomowoc, WI; brother, Donald (Eleanor) James; grandsons, Michael, Matthew, Alexander, and Dylan; great-granddaughter, Emery; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service for Robert will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Dr. Randy Ludwig officiating. Entombment will follow in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, AR. Military Honors will be provided by Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the Baxter Health Foundation.
